Hudson County - A County (Not City, so I lied!) of Two Different Tales

A quick look at two very nice, very high-end, very luxe and well-conditioned courses that one should never pass on an invitation to play. All this in a place that hasn't really had golf for who knows how long and that in itself is really commendable.

Bayonne

Man-made hystrionics and 150 feet of elevation change on the site of a former brownfield.  Golf courses are NOT! bad for the environment. Fly over any city and the greenspace is either a golf course or a public park. The chemical input into maintaining a golf course is much less than a private lawn and the water contamination is sometimes close to non-existent as re-capture systems help re-use water. Bayonne is otherworldly and out of its own world as well, unique among the faux links of the world - Kingsbarns, chamber's Bay, Arcadia Bluffs for starters.  I'll have more in the future.

Interesting finish to par 5 eighth

Well-Done Cape shot (not hole as per Chas. MacDonald) ninth

Back Nine

Number 10, par 4, one of the best holes, this is New Jersey with NYC over the hills to the left???

Unique Clubhouse with great views when under construction as seen from the uphill 15th.

Followed by #16, arguably one of the very best with most jarring view on property

Sinew of a fairway for 17 - in all shades of meaning

North of I-78: Liberty National

Amazing detail work in and around the greens in a course that at first glance looks a little like Florida.
